The effectiveness of the general aptitude test in Saudi Arabia in predicting performance of English as a foreign language

چکیده

Purpose This study examines the test's predictive validity of English language performance and compares test constructs to identify most effective predictors performance. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected analysed from scores students enrolled in foundation year ( N = 84) level 2 127) faculty at a Saudi university using correlation regression tests. Findings The findings revealed that General Aptitude Test (GAT) is predicting for error detection task predictor reading. Practical implications provides support GAT as admission requirement courses Arabic-speaking world. Originality/value GAT's power fine-grained approach by deriving its breakdown predict skills level.
